The Consumer Protection Institute

Launched in June 2012, Consumer Federation of America’s Consumer Protection Institute is a think-tank that focuses on current and emerging consumer protection issues and how to address them. The Institute:

  • Conducts CFA’s annual survey of complaint trends at state and local consumer agencies and other research on consumer issues;
  • Seeks to advance consumers’ interests and promote better understanding of diverse perspectives on consumer issues through stakeholder dialogues and other means of information sharing; and
  • Initiates projects to enhance consumer education and encourage best practices for businesses.

The Consumer Protection Institute is led by Susan Grant, CFA’s Director of Consumer Protection. She has worked in both government consumer protection and the nonprofit consumer group sector.
