CFA Asks for More Comprehensive, Ambitious “Healthy People” Goals on Food Safety
CFA submitted the following comments on the proposed Healthy People 2030 objectives, developed to the Department of Health and Human Services Advisory Committee on National Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Objectives for 2030. Every decade, new Healthy People goals are developed to guide public health authorities in addressing challenges including foodborne illness and antibiotic resistance. As discussed in the comments, the most recently proposed goals on food safety are less comprehensive than in previous years, and less ambitious than preexisting guidelines, such as those contained within the National Action Plan for Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria.
