RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE BROKERAGE SERVICES: A COCKAMAMIE SYSTEM THAT RESTRICTS COMPETITION AND CONSUMER CHOICE
Testimony of
Stephen Brobeck Executive Director Consumer Federation of America
Before the U.S. House of Representatives House Financial Services Committee Housing and Community Opportunity Subcommittee
Chairman Ney, Ranking Member Waters, and members of the Subcommittee: My name is Stephen Brobeck. I am Executive Director of the Consumer Federation of America. We appreciate the opportunity to share our views on residential real estate brokerage services with the committee. These views also represent those of the American Homeowners Grassroots Alliance. For more than a decade, CFA and the AHGA have sought to advance the interest of home sellers and buyers by promoting greater real competition among providers of residential real estate brokerage services. Ensuring this competition has become increasingly important because of the growing importance of homeownership and related services.
